People are really freaking out about the Miley Cyrus “topless” Vanity Fair photographs. Disney is blaming photographer Annie Leibovitz., saying that she and VF created a situation “to deliberately manipulate a 15-year-old in order to sell magazines.” Vanity Fair is standing by the images, emphasizing that Cyrus’s “parents and/or minders were on the set all day,” and Leibovitz is calling the photos “very beautiful.” Cyrus has issued a public apology over the photos, but I guess what bothers me about the situation is not that a 15-year-old has been sexualized, its that the scenario has taken away her agency entirely. Teen star of Disney’s Hannah Montana Show will host the CMT Awards with her dad, Billy Ray Cyrus, Billy Ray is a former country music star from the 90’s who now co-stars on the Hannah Montana show with his daughter Miley. This is what Billy Ray had to say about the honor:
“Miley and I are so excited to be hosting the CMT Music Awards,” Billy Ray said. “We know it will be a fun-filled night with a lot of great music performances.” The pair have pocketed a duet called “Ready, Set, Don’t Go” but it is not confirmed by organizers what piece they will be playing at the Nashville event.

Consumer reports angry with Miley Cyrus for Hannah Montana movie
The Consumer Reports are lashing out at Miely Cyris via OK Magazine. Apparantly, there is a scene in the new Hannah Montana movie with Miely inside a Land Rover, but she is not wearing a seatbelt. This is what the Consumer Reports had to say about the scene in the film.
Consumer Reports writes:
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, in about 55 percent of passenger vehicle fatalities in 2006 (the latest data available), the occupants were not wearing seat belts. Even worse, in the 13- to 15-year-old age group, that percentage climbs to 65 percent. Unfortunately, we’re not surprised by these grim statistics because a 2002 survey by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety showed that when parents were dropping teens off at school in the morning, nearly half the teens weren’t using seat belts.
It seems to us that Miley, her father, and Disney had a perfect opportunity to help influence teens and counteract—rather than encourage—this trend. Then again, as Hannah herself sings, “Everybody makes mistakes.” Maybe Hannah, Billy and Disney, will take a tip from the rest of Hannah’s song and get it right next time around: “Nobody’s Perfect! I gotta work it! Again and again ’til I get it right. Nobody’s Perfect!”
Wow! That’s really intense.

Miley Cyrus slayed her competitors this weekend at the box office with Hannah Montana: Best of Both Worlds Concert Tour 3D movie, The movie only opened on 683 screens but still brought in a whopping 29 million dollars, beating out Eva Longoria’s Over My Dead body film.

Hannah Montana’s Miley Cyrus has offically confirmed that she is no longer dating Nick Jonas from the Jonas Brothers. Miley says she is happily single and Nick’s brother Joe says “We are all very single. We are on the road a lot and it’s crazy!”
This is the first time anyone has publicly commented on the rumors of the romance. Guess it’s over before it could really get started.
Miley Cyrus goes on the record about girl and mom who lied for concert tickets

Miley Cyrus gave an interview this morning on Goodmorning America about the recent scandal involving a 6 year old girl and her mom who lied in an essay to win Hannah Montana tickets. The girl’s mother, Priscilla Ceballos and her concocted an essay stating that the girl lost her father in Iraq and that her only dream was to go to a Hannah Montana concert.
When it was found that the essay was a fabrication, the sponsors pulled the tickets. This is what Miley had to say about the ordeal:
“I was really kind of upset. I mean, that’s just not a cool scenario,” says Cyrus. “But it just shows what people will do for a ticket.”
Cyrus also says she is aware of just how desperate fans are for tickets to her concerts, even if it means burning holes in their parents’ wallets.
“People are paying thousands and thousands of dollars to come see one show. So we have to give 120 percent each time,” she says.
